The sampling frequency (2.8334 MHz) is 64 times that of a traditional CD. Furthermore, DSD uses 1-bit quantization. With the aid of this technology an even broader frequenzy range (up to 100 kHz) and even greater dynamics (120dB) can be achieved over the entire useful audio range. For this DIRECT-CUT-SUPER-AUDIO-CD with Gergely Bogányi we used our SADiE DSD8 system for the recording, processing and mastering. The signal from the microphones is mixed to stereo in the analogue domain, converted to DSD with the emmLABs ADC8 MkIV and recorded as DSD signal to the SADiE system. This recording is maintained in DSD format throughout the processing stages. The end result is then obtained in the SADiE DSD8 - the "cutting master" (AIT tape) - which is later transferred directly to a SACD glass master in the pressing plant. This DIRECT-CUT-SUPER-AUDIO-CD will enable you to hear the true DSD sound of the FAZIOLI F 308 grand piano - pure and pristine. The hybrid layer which guarantees downward compatibility contains the 16-bit PCM stereo program derived from the DSD mix. [/hide] [quote] Coming from a musical family, Gergely Bogányi is one of the youngest ever pianists to have won the Kossuth Prize, becoming one of the leading pianists of his generation. He was born in 1974 in Vác, Hungary (his father is Tibor Bogányi), and started playing the piano at the age of four. He continued his studies at the Liszt Academy in Budapest, the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and at Indiana University in Bloomington with professors László Baranyay, György Sebök, Matti Raekallio.
